Produced for the San Francisco Planning Department, this pamphlet documents the piloting of a mobile data collection platform for use in studying the public realm. Mobile Data Collection: A Primer serves as an accessible, step-by-step guide for cities to follow as they transition from the outdated paper-pen-and-clipboard workflow to a more streamlined method of data collection.
The publication design utilizes a minimal blue and white color palette that is both easy to read and visually compelling for a range of users, from intern to IT manager.
The booklet features a series of custom icons created to illustrate a variety of concepts relating to data collection and storage. These simple and playful icons help to make accessible the often unapproachable processes associated with urban planning and database management.
